Equipment configured for gas
The Marcellus Shale and the Utica need different equipment and a different rig-up than an oil basin, and the Smithfield team builds around that difference.
Northern Region office & yard

The Smithfield office is the Northern Region headquarters, covering everything from Pennsylvania to Alaska. Jared Wipf, Senior Vice President of Operations for the Northern Region, has worked out of this building for fourteen years and runs sales and operations for the region. The team came into S3S in 2020 through the acquisition of BOS Solutions and has stayed together since. The work here centers on the Marcellus Shale and the Utica, gas formations that need different equipment and a different rig-up than an oil basin.
Smithfield location
Smithfield is the Northern Region office, covering Pennsylvania to Alaska and, from here, Eastern Canada. Toronto is a six to seven hour drive from this yard against roughly five days from Calgary, so Toronto projects are supplied from Smithfield. Call the office or get directions to reach the team.

The Marcellus Shale and the Utica are gas plays, and gas work needs different equipment and a different rig-up than an oil basin. Equipment here is proactively serviced at least once a week, with the service documented in a third-party platform the customer can see.

S3S supplies the equipment and trains the customer's crew over two or three weeks, then the customer's own people run it.

One region, one office
Jared Wipf has run the Northern Region from this building for fourteen years and still runs sales and operations for it himself. The team came into S3S in 2020 through the acquisition of BOS Solutions and stayed together, so the group scoping a Marcellus or Utica job today is the same group that has run it for years.
Jared Wipf runs sales and operations for the Northern Region himself, so the person who scopes the job is the person you call at midnight.
